A Fair Dinkum Christmas!

If you are from a country like Denmark, where Christmas is known to be cold and often snowy, because it is in the middle of the winter, it is NOT like this in Australia!
Australia celebrates Christmas in many different ways due to the fact, that the country is made oup of many and very different cultures. This means, that there is a lot of people who folloews the traditional Christmas traditions as in the UK (Link for more information: Christmas Pudding in the UK) and the USA (Link for more information: God Bless America), but also a lot of people eating different food and having other traditions generally.
The Christmas in Australia is an event which you celebrate with your family like in the States and in the UK. December in Australia is a very hot month, and a lot of Australians goes on holiday over Christmas instead of celebrating it at home.
If they do celebrate it at home, it is usually a picnic or barbeque on the beach - with or without the traditional food like in the States and the UK. Instead of the traditional food many Australians eat instead of the Christmas Pudding a dessert called Pavlova and drink champagne instead of eggnogg.
The decoration of the house is like in the United States very common, eventhough the temperature is quite higher here (usually about 30 degrees celsius).
A very special tradition special for Australia is to hold "Carols by Candlelight", which is celebrated on Christmas Eve. It is practiacally a big get-together, where thousands of people get together in Melbourne to sing Christmas songs.

A special decoration in Australia is the Christmas Bush, which is a plant from Australia with small red leaves.
